The Ultimate Tyre Comparison Website

With the bewildering range of tyres on the market and so little objective performance information available ‘bicyclerollingresistance.com’ is a resource that just about every retailer and bicycle mechanic will find useful. Bicycle Rolling Resistance specializes in testing and rating performance tyres, tubes and related products. The website offers comparisons of weight, size, compound, rolling resistance (of course…), puncture resistance and static grip of just about every quality brand on the market. To date the site has tested 163 different tyres and dozens of other products.

The BIN editors were pleased to see our favourite gravel tyre, the TUFO Gravel Thundero HD44 came through a recent test with flying colors. According to Rolling Resistance,

“When we compare the Tufo Thundero HD to tires from competing manufacturers, it will be nearly impossible to find a tire that offers better overall performance.”

The testers gave the Thundero a 5/5 Highly Recommended rating. It’s a good tyre! (TUFO tyres are made in the Czech Republic and distributed in Australia and New Zealand by PCI Sports.) On the other hand, we were a bit surprised to see Rolling Resistance giving one of our old-favourite training tyres, the Maxxis Re-Fuse, a right shellaking with a 2/5 Not Recommended rating. Seems a bit harsh, but there you go.

And you’re wondering which of the zillion brands of TPU tubes to stock, Bicycle Rolling Resistance did a comparison here: https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/…/tpu-inner-tubes
