Kent International has since announced it will close its South Carolina assembly facility as of late June 2025, and will lay-off the bulk of its employees. Kent stated the decision was driven by ongoing uncertainty regarding massive tariffs on imported frames and components, making US assembly financially unviable.
The company has cancelled all new orders from China and stated that US-based bicycle assembly would only recommence with substantial changes in the tariff situation.
