One of the most visible pro teams, Visma-Lease a Bike has had a sensational 2025 with podium finishes in the Giro and the Tour, and now team leader Jonas Vingegaard has won Stage 9 of the Vuelta just as we go to print, and looks to be the strongest rider in the peloton. Well, let’s see how that prediction pans out…
But who are the team sponsors? Visma is fairly boring – an accounting software supplier, privately held, and based in Oslo, Norway. Lease a Bike is a bit more interesting, the company specializes in corporate bicycle leasing. European companies can take advantage of tax incentives (similar to the salary-packaging system in Australia) that allow employees to lease a bike using pre-tax income. Underwritten by Volkswagen Financial Services, Lease a Bike claims to have leased more than 900,000 bikes through more than 80,000 companies throughout the EU. Eligible employees can save up to 40% on the cost of the bike of their choice by using the leasing option, depending on their pay structure.
